The starting point
New Year’s Eve in Rio is a mass event spread across the city. Besides Copacabana, the portal lists parties at Praia do Flamengo, Paquetá, Ilha do Governador, Bangu, Penha, Parque Madureira, Piscinão de Ramos, Sepetiba and Praça Mauá, each with its own stage and acts.
People going to one of these parties want to know who is playing on each stage and how to get there and back home. Réveillon.Rio is the official channel from Riotur and City Hall for these answers, and publishing starts weeks before the night of December 31.

What we built
The menu has six entries: Home, O Réveillon pela cidade, Notícias, Galeria, Vídeos and Saiba mais sobre o Réveillon. On the home page, a carousel of highlights opens with the main story of the moment. Right after the turn to 2026, for example, it was the summary of how the party went on each stage.
The O Réveillon pela cidade section filters posts by location. Anyone who picks Sepetiba or Praia do Flamengo sees only the acts on that stage, and the column alongside keeps the latest news in view.
Stories are divided into highlights, news, parties around the city and more information. Many of them are service information, such as subway ticket sales for Copacabana. The gallery and the video page bring together the official photos and videos of the party.

One edition after another
The portal changes identity each year. In 2024, the logo was the colorful Rio 2024. In the 2026 edition, it became Rio Réveillon 2026, with the phrase A maior virada do mundo. The menu stays the same in both versions, and stories from earlier editions remain published: the current layout still shows a news story from December 17, 2024.
The footer carries the By Next Vision credit, our former name, in the 2024 edition and again for the turn from 2025 to 2026. The same footer states that the site is managed by the Coordenação de Comunicação Social of Riotur, which publishes the schedule and the news.

Technical decisions
We chose WordPress because the Riotur communications team is the one feeding the portal. It publishes news, swaps highlights and updates the schedule from its own dashboard, with no need to come to us for each change on the eve of the party.
The home page blocks, the schedule by location and the stories use ready-made templates, so a new story lands in the right place without anyone having to touch the layout.
