The starting point
Rio Carnival happens in several places at once, and each has its own audience. The samba schools parade at the Sambódromo. The blocos, street parties that number in the hundreds, fill streets, squares and neighborhoods for weeks. Intendente Magalhães hosts the schools of the Séries Prata and Bronze, and Terreirão do Samba has shows near Marquês de Sapucaí.
The reveler looking for a bloco’s route downtown and the person who wants a school’s time at Sapucaí arrive at the same address. So the portal’s main menu has one entry for each of these carnivals: O Sambódromo, Carnaval de Rua, Intendente Magalhães and Terreirão do Samba.

A page for each stage
The Carnaval de Rua, Intendente Magalhães and Terreirão do Samba pages follow the same design: a large photo, the introduction text next to it and, right below, the schedule.
The Carnaval de Rua page has the list of megablocos confirmed for the Circuito Preta Gil, downtown. The Intendente Magalhães page presents the Passarela Popular do Samba and brings together the parades of the Séries Prata and Bronze. The Terreirão do Samba page lists the schedule night by night, with the time of each show. In 2026, there were ten nights in February.
At the Sambódromo, parade photos run with the school’s name and the Riotur photographer’s credit in the caption.

Schedule, news and services
On the home page, right below the main headline, the Mais acessados block goes straight to Agenda and Notícias. News appears in a carousel, tagged as blog, schedule or highlights. The portal also has the guide to blocos and a services area covering where to eat, where to stay and what to do in the city.
On a phone, the colorful header keeps the logo, the menu button and search, and the Agenda and Notícias shortcuts become large blocks, stacked one on top of the other.

Technical decisions
Carnaval.rio was built in WordPress, on the same base as Réveillon.Rio. Each portal has its own visual identity.

Where it stands today
The portal is live at carnaval.rio. The home page still carries the Carnaval 2026 identity, but the latest news already covers 2027, such as the opening of bloco registration by Riotur and ticket sales for the Série Ouro.
